A happy Independence to All the St. Lucian Educators.

Now that you are 38 years old as a nation, What do you want to see next for teaching and training?

St. Lucia records very high literacy rates.

Are there other things to be done to take literacy even further?

What about promoting mobile technology in rural areas and promoting mobile technology for reading?

Do you see these options as distractive or possibly useful for St. Lucia?

Please share your thoughts as we explore how to make mobile technology inroads in education in the Caribbean.

Wanted: Project Proposals for the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural ...

The US Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS has issued a call for project proposals for the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) for 2017.

Proposals must be submitted by February 2, 2017, for projects to preserve cultural heritage in Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Dominica; Grenada; St Kitts and Nevis; St Lucia; and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Through the AFCP program, the US Department of State supports projects to preserve cultural heritage in the following three areas:

1.  Cultural sites: Such as, but not limited to, historic buildings and archaeological sites.

2.  Cultural objects and collections: From a museum, site, or similar institution, including but not limited to, archaeological and ethnographic objects, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and general museum conservation needs.

3.  Forms of traditional cultural expression: Such as traditional music, indigenous languages, and crafts.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

1. Must be non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations.

2. Must be able to demonstrate that you have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.

All eligible applicants must submit their proposals via email to bridgetowngrants@state.gov no later than February 2, 2017. Any proposals submitted after this time will not be accepted.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for posting. I am more than happy to engage in a dialogue with you.  The issue of technology use among special needs student populations is a critical one. It is also one that has not received much attention.

Are you interested in the research literature or in current projects that focus on technology use among special needs populations? And what age group are you looking at?

Best,

Kathy

Hello. I am a graduate student at Valdosta State University. I am looking for someone willing to engage in a global and collaborative dialogue about the importance of technology in instructing diverse learners, including students with special needs. Is this something that anyone would be willing to engage with? Thank you in advance.
