We live in a diverse world. Every country has students who speak a language other than the official language of the country. Estimates are that there are 550-750 different languages spoken in Latin America. All teachers have students whose home language is other than the language of the classroom instruction. Therefore we are all language teachers, no matter what subject area we are teaching.
