Webinar: "Identifying Language Levels at a Glance: Classroom Assessment and Instruction Across Grade Levels"

Presenter: Paul Boyd-Batstone, Ph.D.

Is Professor and Chair of the Department of Teacher Education at California State University, Long Beach. His areas of expertise include second language learners, classroom assessment and instruction. He is a member of the International Reading Association (IRA) and has served as Chair of the Commission on Second Language Literacy and Learning for IRA. His latest book is Helping English Language Learners meet the Common Core: Assessment and Instructional Strategies. NY: Eye On Education (2013).

Content: Classroom Assessment of Language Levels (CALL) is a teacher friendly tool to quickly assess the language level of student based on observing predictable language behaviors. Based upon the assessment, the teacher can immediately apply appropriate questions, interactive techniques, and instructional strategies that match each level of language proficiency.
