Dr. Patricia Biermayr-Jenzano is a social scientist and gender specialist who has worked extensively to develop research approaches and gender analysis in extension and adult education programs. She holds an MS and PhD in Adult Education/Extension and Social Anthropology from Cornell University, NY and an Agricultural Engineering degree from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her research and applied work has deep roots in Participatory Action Research (PAR) theory and practice while she has been deeply involved on mainstreaming gender in rural societies and education approaches. She has conducted complex evaluation tasks for several International Organizations, most recently the FAO Office of Evaluation (OEDD) and the FAO Regional Office in Santiago, Chile, performing as a Team Leader for the Evaluation Reforms of the World Food Committee (CFS), and also participating in Country Programme Evaluations for Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and Barbados In the USA, she worked as an Extension Education Specialist for Cornell University and as a Population Fellow for the University of Michigan. Currently, she is an independent consultant for the UN System and an Adjunct Professor at the Women and Gender Studies Program and the Center for Latin America Studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
