Teaching Foreign Languages in the Classroom

Information

Teaching Foreign Languages in the Classroom

This group aims to analyze the teaching of foreign languages at schools across the Americas, looking at both the existing policy framework and the implementation of programs designed to increase language proficiency in schools. This is an increasingly important topic in the educational agenda of the region as it is linked to creating opportunities to access to quality education.

Please share your ideas and experiences on the teaching of foreign languages as well as its challenges.

We have a webinar next week with Dr. Ariel Fiszbein, the Director of the Education Program at the Inter-American Dialogue, where he will present experiences on the teaching of the English language at schools across Latin America.

We invite all teachers involved in the teaching of foreign languages to join us!

Chile is working to expand access to English education to students across the country. Many professionals looking for work in Chile can find positions with better salaries if they speak a language, often located in the largest cities in the country. However, this does not happen everywhere
Learning a language can be a great opportunity for all citizens. This is reflected in the international concern to improve the teaching of languages. The objective in this area is focused on the work force and processes.

Are there any teachers in this group that have thoughts of best practices on using technology in teaching foreign languages? Or, any specific trainings that you're looking to see that will aid you in teaching foreign languages in the region?
