Educational assessment in four new publications of UNESCO Santiago

Curriculum analysis, factors associated with learning achievement, analysis of school climate and the most recent information on education policies in some countries of Latin America and the Caribbean are the focus of four publications that the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) recently developed and that are public through its site: www.unesco.org/santiago

These texts are part of the studies conducted on the basis of the Second and Third Regional Comparative and Explicative study (SERCE and TERCE, respectively) coordinated by the Latin-American Laboratory for the Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), led by OREALC/UNESCO Santiago. The assessments implemented by LLECE on a regional level for over 15 years have allowed a better understanding on the state of the quality of education in Latin America and the Caribbean and for the educational debate to focus on quality education without exclusion, providing data which contributes to our understanding of the magnitude of the challenges faced in education in the region.

OREALC/UNESCO Santiago works in coordination with the countries of the region through its Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), a network of national education quality assessment directors across Latin America and the Caribbean. LLECE produces information and knowledge that enrich education policy making, by preparing its reports on studies that reflect the state of education quality in the region. It also contributes to the development of education assessment capacities in the region by offering specialised training courses, and serves as a forum to share, generate ideas and discuss best practices in education.
