Dr. Thomas Reynolds is currently Professor of Teacher Education at National University in La Jolla, California where he coordinates a Master of Arts in Education program, a master’s degree specialization in e-teaching and learning and researches design of online learning environments, standards-based online assessment and innovations in e-learning. Before coming to National University he served on faculty at Texas A&M University where he directed a State of Texas funded Center for Professional Development and Technology that was designed to use technological innovation to improve teacher education in Texas. Also while at A&M in 1998 he received a Fulbright Senior Scholar award to lecture and carry out research on web-based education and technology-enhanced instruction in Peru. After receiving a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1989 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison he spent several post-doctoral years working as a Senior Research Specialist at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research. Since coming to National University in 2000 he has lead quality assurance of online course review and development efforts, researched blended learning models of field-based teacher education designs, developed, researched and used open educational resources, researched standards-based assessment of online teaching and learning, and taught extensively online. In 2010 he received a second Fulbright Senior Scholar award to research use and production of open educational resources in twenty eight institutions of higher education in Caribbean Coastal Colombia. He currently serves on the AACE E-Learn Executive Committee and the Editorial Board of the International Journal on E-Learning. He can be contacted at treynold@nu.edu.
