Call for applications: Women Scholarship for Peace (deadline-11 December 2016) (LAC)

I am Posting this for any of you who may be interested since peace is a particularly important theme for managing classorrooms and advancing education outcomes.

Applications are now open for Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) participants in the Women Scholarship for Peace: Global South programme. Scholarships are open to women between the ages of 22 and 32 (at the time of application) who are resident in the LAC country of their nationality. Thirty-five of these places are available.  

 

Through online and in-person courses conducted between February and April 2017, the programme will introduce participants to topics including weapons of mass destruction, conventional weapons, disarmament and development, gender and disarmament, and peace and development-related technologies. Modules will also provide information about major international organizations working in disarmament, non-proliferation and development, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Successful participants will be awarded a certificate from the United Nations-mandated University of Peace (UPEACE). 

 

Each scholarship includes the programme registration fee, travel costs from the country of residence to the in-person training course, and daily subsistence allowance for one week.
