Dear teachers, the critical thinking process is vital to the development of intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional and physical life. It is imperative that we integrate strategies and projects that fosters intuitive growth and natural learning that is unique to an individual's personality and wiring. Of course let it include as much fun as possible.
I believe we need to help person develop critical thinking skills to be independent and resourceful persons in society. The fact that critical thinking provides a person with skills to facilitate sound judgement promotes peace learning as well.
I'm looking forward to the Webinar "Developing Oral Academic Language with Critical Thinking Skills". ITEN's soon-to-be-released toolkit and audio program will encourage and support the use of this practice; I expect Dr. Zwiers will offer examples from his work and research.
I am excited about the classroom activities that can be used at any level. I know my student will benefit because teaching critical thinking is such an important skills that our students need, not just to pass an exam but to be successful in life. I do hope a recording will be available.
Yes, Jacinta, ITEN always makes a recording of the Webinars available after the event. Check on the website, Twitter feed, or Facebook page a day or two after the event and you should find a link.
Critical thinking involves formulating new ideas and building on previous knowledge. To develop critical thinking skills individuals must be encourage to investigate, question, demonstrate understanding and make judgements. "Do as I say and not as I do" does not promote critical thinking. It goes back to the sage on the stage.
I had the distinct pleasure and honor of serving as tutor for the ITEN Massive Open Online Course "Critical Thinking in the Science Classroom". The participating teachers had plenty of enthusiasm for getting their students to learn critical thinking skills and shared plenty of good ideas in addition to those suggested in the course. If we have any members of this group who participated in the course, please share one idea that you gained from the course that you are using or plan to use in your classroom. Thanks! Remember . . . Think for yourself, and be a critical thinker!

I am placing this question to members of this forum:
Do as I say not as I do. How can critical thinkers apply this axiom to their method of thinking?
