Building comprehension through listening and speaking
This webinar addresses effective student engagement in collaborative discussions is three parts. The first part discusses the essential components of collaborative discussions about a text, including building on others' ideas, being prepared to discuss, following agreed upon rules, posing questions, and summarizing the discussion. The second part examines effective strategies and unhelpful practices when working with language learners. The third and final part provides a practical activity using a collaborative interviewing technique to engage all learners in effective discussions of a text.
